Drake certainly owes much his success to his obsession with dancehall music. His island-flavored jams like “One Dance,” which features dancehall star Wizkid, has earned him plenty accolades. But fellow dancehall artist Sean Paul feels Drizzy should do more for the culture.

In an interview with Metro UK, Paul called out Drake for not taking the time to credit dancehall culture and its artists for his success, particularly, with “One Dance,” which became “The World’s Biggest Song 2016.”

“I think at the time when ‘One Dance’] was popping f, it would have been good for him to actually put accolades towards the whole culture,” he said. “He’s friendly with a few people in the business in Jamaica and that’s good, I love it. But if he had given more accolades when he was actually making it and said, ‘this is the music I love,’ it would have been cool.”

Paul added that dancehall artists are not happy with Major Lazer as well for not crediting dancehall culture for their success. If you listen to their latest project, Know No Better, there’s plenty dancehall-infused sounds and artists on the EP.

Drake has not responded to Sean Paul’s comments.
