We'd love to make sense Father John Misty's utterly bonkers 'Total Entertainment Forever' music video for you, but we can't.
What we can do is show you the clip, and present a factual description what might actually be the strangest musical video ever produced by a major recording star:
'Total Entertainment Forever' begins with US founding father George Washington strapping on a VR headset and geeking out to Kurt Cobain being put through various forms torture. Cobain is played here by former Home Alone child star Macaulay Culkin, obvs.
As Cobain gets whipped and crucified by tormentors dressed in bizarro McDonald's uniforms, a chest-bursting Ronald McDonald pops out Father John Misty in a scene right out our worst nightmare.
Inexplicably, Macaulay… err, Kurt Cobain… is crucified alongside a saxophone-playing Bill Clinton and Garfield the Cat's owner Jon Arbuckle. Is any this making sense to you?
All we can do is provide you an explanation from Father John Misty himself, who recently described 'Total Entertainment Forever' as a criticism celebrity culture.
"There are only going to be infamous people," he insisted. "Jennifer Lawrence will be famous and everyone else will be infamous."
Whatever you say, dude. (Side note: If Jennifer Lawrence gets to stay famous in this new world order, surely Hollywood's lovable male go Chris Pratt does too! Oh no, we're veering too close to the plot Passengers).
The 'Total Entertainment Forever' clip is admittedly very, very, very bizarre but it's not actually the weirdest project that Macaulay Culkin has been involved with recently. That dubious distinction belongs to this NSFW Home Alone 'sequel' below:
