Slam are releasing an EP carefully chosen remixes for the 500th Soma release which is out on August 21.
The A-side will have two versions Robert Hood’s ‘The Bond We Formed’ whilst the flip sees a remix Carl Craig’s edit Delia Gonzalez & Gavin Russom’s ‘Relevee’ which was first released on DFA in 2006.
The Glasgow duo made up forward thinking techno producers Stuart McMillian and Orde Meikle, launched their label Soma with Dave Clarkein 1991. Since then it has grown to be one the biggest labels in techno, releasing music from names like Adam Beyer, Blawan and Daft Punk.
Soma celebrated its 25 year anniversary in 2016 and continues to dominate the techno scene. The ‘Slam Tent’ has been a regular for Scotland’s biggest festival T in the Park since 1997 and the pair's monthly club nights at one the were ranked amongst the best nights out on the planet.
The A-side their Soma500 EP includes a heavy, euphoric remix Robert Hoods’ ‘The Bond We Formed’ which came out on the label's ‘Soma 25’ compilation in March.
The intense remix defines dark techno, lowering the original hi-hats to a weighty pitter patter as the track’s tempo surges up and down. The winding melody is playfully spooky before a sudden drop, leading into a powerful thumping baseline. Listen to a clip below.
