Chance The Rapper isn’t interested in politics. Some have been clamoring for the Chicago native to run for mayor, but he tells EBONY thanks, but no thanks.
âI would never run for any fice or government position,â Chano explains in the June cover story for EBONY. âIâm not into it. I think politics is a reason why a lot stuff doesnât get done. Thereâs a lot favors, and a lot people are held back by their intentions being re-elected or the things that they owe their party or constituents. I think when youâre in my position as an artist, I can say what I want and talk about the issues that matter.â
Chance’s father was President Barack Obama’s Deputy Assistant and he worked in Mayor Rahm Emanuelâs fice.
Chance recently teamed with Jamila Woods to reach out to Chicago high school students to help them shoot their next video. Chance put the word out on his Twitter account that heâs looking for creative students to submit video treatments for âLSD,â a fantastic song from Woodsâ stellar album, HEAVN, which also features Chance.
The Chicago rapper is also expanding his website to get more artists radio airplay. He’s helping other artists get the attention they need on terrestrial radio through his new platform Rapper Radio.
