A petition has been launched to kick Ultra out of Miami

For years, come March, electronic music stars and industry folk flock to Miami, Florida for a week parties and showcases leading up to Ultra Music Festival.

Though UMF has been considered a staple Miami since its inception, the festival is now nearing the end its contract with its home venue, Bayfront Park. A group residents near the area have come together to create a timely petition against the renewal the contract, thus forcing the festival to relocate.

The petition has been assembled by the Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA), an organization that also was behind news that broke last week about .

The petition, which collected 1,100 signatures, targets not only Ultra, but also hip-hop festival Rolling Loud. It was delivered yesterday at the city's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting.

"We, the residents Downtown Miami and its neighboring communities deserve to have daily access to Bayfront Park – our neighborhood park," the petition states. "Instead, since the beginning 2017, Bayfront Park has been closed to the public or in a state disrepair for over 100 days because mega-concerts like Ultra and Rolling Loud."
